International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
21.03.2024

Since last week, you may have noticed that some of our students do not eat lunch and do not even drink water during recess. Why is that?

"Islam stipulates that all adult and sane Muslim men and women must perform fasting in the Islamic calendar every year in Ramadan." (Extracted from the website: The Light of Islam)

This year, Ramadan starts on 10th March. In Mung Yeung, some non-Chinese-speaking students abide by the law of fasting. They will not eat or drink from sunrise to sunset, and will suspend all entertainment. The students said that by doing this, they can calm down, read the Quran, think about how to behave, and improve their moral cultivation. In addition, not eating or drinking during the fast is to let them experience the plight of the poor and cultivate empathy for the poor, old and weak.

Ramadam Mubarak!Selamat Berpuasa Ramadhan!

Today is the "International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination" established by the United Nations. In response to the appeal of the Equal Opportunity Commission, our school has organised different activities to teach students that all people are born equal, and we should respect people regardless of race or background. Mung Yeung is honoured to accompany a group of students to experience Ramadan. Let us say to each other: Happy Fasting Month! Ramadam Mubarak! Selamat Berpuasa Ramadhan!
