‘Just a little bit more! Just a little bit more! The cup would have stood up. ......’

禮堂裏響起陣陣失望的嘆息。
There were sighs of disappointment in the hall.

「成功了!杯子立起來了! 我們全隊都成功了!」
‘It worked! The cup is up! We did it!’

透過轉杯子遊戲，同學體會到成功的背後往往是無數次的失敗。活動亦讓我們想起社會改革家雅各．里斯一段話:
Through the cup spinning game, students learnt that success is often followed by countless failures. The activity also reminded us of a quote by social reformer Jacob Riis:

「當一切努力看似無用，我會去看石匠敲打石頭。可能敲了一百下，石頭上連一條裂縫都沒有，但就在第一百零一下，石頭斷裂為兩半。然後我了解到，把石頭劈成兩半的不是最後那一下，而是先前的每一次敲擊。」
‘When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it - but all that had gone before.’
