Library Experiments Series: Fizzy Rocket
P6 students carried out a Fizzy Rocket experiment during their English lesson, using paper cups, tape and balloons to explore how stretching the balloon creates pressure to propel the ball faster and further.
During the library lesson, the teacher first read the STEAM book ‘How to Build a Fizzy Rocket’ with the students, then explored the principles of the air cannon with them before they set about making their own.
The students squeezed the plastic bag, the reaction force caused by the pressure of the gas, and the students' learning power were so strong that they could send the rocket into space!
